When I designed these mitts, I wanted to make a special gift for my dear friend. I was so happy that she enjoyed them and that she wears them often. Fingerless mitts are surprisingly useful accessories. A beautiful pair will not only keep your hand warm and accent your look, but they leave your hands free to get things done! Below you can see the Sue's Skew fingerless mitts in multiple sizes and colors.
I've never really been a shawl person. My mom had many beautiful ones made by her mom, my grandmother, and my aunts, but they weren't really my thing. I made a beautiful Nymphalidea shawl for my daughter, but since I didn't actually wear them often, I didn't make them for myself. But, I realized that I actually am often looking for something to put on over a tshirt. I started borrowing my daughter's Nymphalidea and realized, I should probably make some for myself! I decided to purchase Helen Stewart's Shawl Society III. This is the third year Helen Stewart has released a volume of beautiful shawls and I'm so happy I decided to purchase these! The Shawl Society provides six beautiful, well-designed, easy to follow shawl patterns. I've made three so far and am working on the fourth. The one above, is Ivy Over the Door. It was the second pattern in The Shawl Society and I made it with alpaca yarn from my stash. My alpaca stash is very special so I tend to use it for my own designs for worthy people. Helen's pattern is a worthy exception. The shawl is so soft and warm. While I really like the finished product, and I'd really like to keep it for myself, this one is a gift for a friend and I plan to send it out to her soon. I'd really like to give my friend, Krista, a hug, but she's very far away so I thought I'd send this beautiful shawl hand knit with my favorite yarn and hope it works as a hug for her from far away.
The pattern for these fingerless mitts is available on Etsy and Ravelry This pattern was tech-edited and pattern-tested and is available in three sizes. Ready-made, hand knit mitts are also available in my Etsy shop. Thanks for the pic @jelaxy3 😘
. 🍂 Getting photographed is so awkward. I can't say I enjoy the process, but my kid is very good at getting me to look like myself. It's probably because she snapped this picture of me when I was thinking about how to pose and not actually posing. This is also my little rebellion against the standards and to put forth a little representation. There really aren't very models that look like me -- 50 years old, gray-haired, wrinkled, short, and not thin. But I exist and there are others like me. I'm a proud latinx in the diaspora. I'm half Peruvian, half Puerto Rican, born in Texas, and raised in NY. My family is far-away and my Hispanic culture was mostly obtained through books though I do speak Spanish fluently. Because of my background, I've never felt like I've ever really belonged anywhere. Many NYers have connections to elsewhere. That's probably why I love this City so much. . #fingerlessgloves #fingerlessmitts#fingerlessglovesrock #knittingpattern#knittingpatterndesigner#ravelrydesigner #ravelrypattern#grayhair #diaspora#representationmatters #merino#fingerlessglovespattern #gloveknitting#mittknitting #etsyknits #etsyknitting#etsyknittingpatterns #giftknitting#urbanchic #knittersofinstagram#knittersofig #knitting #knittingdesign#multicolor #merinowool #stripes#knittingpatterndesign #koiguyarn#indiedesigner #perdidaenladiaspora 🌿 Vines and Leaves Cowl/Wrap 🌿.

She's showing new symptoms of Alzheimers and it's been difficult for all of us. Mostly, it's depressing and it's been difficult to summon the energy to engage. I appreciate all of you who read everything and comment and I just felt that if I couldn't engage, it was better to just disappear for a bit. Things aren't really better, but they're calmer so I guess this is our new normal. We'll just have to take it day by day. There is no cure. I can't make my mom feel better, but I can take care of her with more love and patience. That is my new goal in our new normal. So, thank you for your patience and I'm looking forward to catching up with you. 💛. . #ilovemymom #handknitting #handknit#handknitpattern #chunkyknit#handmadeinnyc #madeinny#etsyseller #knit #quickknit#knittersofinstagram #knitpattern#superchunky #chunkyyarn#chunkyyarnlove #ravelrypattern#ravelrydesigns #newknitter#knitstagram #knittingpattern#handmadegifts #alzheimers#earthfriendlydyes #boricua#alzheimerscaregiver #handknitgifts#luxuryyarn #smallbusiness#sustainablefashion#makeyourmarkmakers |
